Missouri Wildlife

Good morning. Today we are heading a little further north to another Missouri state park. We have explored and seen all that there is here during this time of year. It’s time to move on and explore another area.

Day 123. As Clyde was taking Patty Pepper out for her first thing in morning walk he noticed three deer right in our backyard. He quietly called me on my phone to alert me to his findings and I was able to get a few pictures of them from our motorhome window. They weren’t very big and seemed as curious about us as we were about them.

Later in the day I was able to get a couple of pictures of the two birds I had seen yesterday.

We have enjoyed our stay here, in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains.

Foothills of the Ozark Mountains

Good Morning. It was another very quiet, peaceful night here in Lake Wappapello State Park. Maybe too quiet. Again the only sounds we heard all night were each other breathing and our furnace going on and off.

Day 122. No matter where you are you expect to find things common to the environment around you. We are in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, on a lake, in the forest, surrounded by trees. We thought we would hear owls hooting and birds chirping. We thought we would see squirrels, deer, rabbits, chipmunks, etc.. Nope. Nodda. None. Well, maybe we’ve seen some wildlife, just not enough. Where are all the forest creatures? They can’t all be hibernating. So far we have seen 2 Canadian geese, 1 squirrel, and 2 types of small birds which we think are woodpeckers.

Today is predicted to be a nice clear day. Hopefully we will see something and I will be able to get some nice pictures to post. We aren’t in any hurry to leave here, as the weather is warmer and nicer than what we see going up north a little further and we love $8 a night camping fees.

Loving our lifestyle. Have a great day.

Until next time,

Kathryn
