After tossing around various ideas over the course of a few years on the best way to spend our retirement years, we decided RV living was the right choice for us. It wasn’t a hard choice for us, as we have enjoyed camping all of our married life. We started out on our honeymoon in a tent. The next year we purchased a new Starcraft pop-up camper. Many years later we had worn out the pop-up, sold it and tried the hotel route. That was not for us. So, it was back to a tent for a few years. But, we really enjoy being comfortable and pampered. We needed an RV.
The next step was choosing which type of RV would best fill our needs. We looked at 5th wheels and travel trailers, both require the purchase of a tow vehicle. In the end, we found Winnie, a Winnebago Itasca Suncruiser motorhome. I know, Winnie is not a very original name but it fits.
I love her layout. I have not found a motorhome of any length I like better. The TV is at eye level and placed so that everyone can see the screen comfortably. The table with bench seats (which I wanted for the extra storage) is on the patio side-the best view. I love the comfortable soft real leather couch that opens up to a king size bed, and the double wide refrigerator and freezer with ice-maker. Winnie has many other features that make her ideal for us. But mostly, I just love the homey feeling I get when I’m in her. She just feels right.
Now that we have decided on how to spend our retirement years and what we will be living in to accomplish it, I decided to start this blog as a way to document not only our travels, but also some of the things we learn along the way. It’s my way of staying connected with family and friends. They will be able to see where we are and what we are doing. Other campers will be able to see what we like and what we don’t enjoy about different campgrounds. Maybe by our sharing some of the things we learn along the way, we will be helping others learn before they make the same mistakes we do. Anyway, I hope you will follow along with us on our many new adventures in Winnie.
Until next time,
