Road Trip

Time to take our girl, Kayleigh back home.  Our time together is never long enough. It’s our first out of state trip in Winnie.  The drive down was nerve wracking, heavy traffic with cement barriers on both sides of a one lane construction area almost all the way down.   We met our daughter, Karen and her family at the half-way point for both of us in Minster, Ohio at Lake Loramie State Park.  We set up in site #073 which had 50 amps and was directly across from the rest rooms.  Our daughter and crew were camped across the road one over from the rest room in a tent.  Water is only available at the rest room, which we found odd coming from Michigan were water is plentiful.  Water is not an issue for us in a motorhome, but those in campers or tents that need it had a hike.

It was a beautiful week-end, perfect for canoeing.

Back to Brighton Recreation Area

Sticking close to home we are back to Brighton Recreation Area, Bishop Lake, the lower campground.  We did get a different site, #138 which has 30 amps and backs to the woods. We wanted to get another trip in before we had to take our granddaughter, Kayleigh back home.  We were able to enjoy it with all of our local family stopping by at different times.  Too bad I forgot to get pictures.  Guess I was too busy.  I’ll try and do better next time.

Until next time,

Kathryn

Fun week-end at Proud Lake recreation area, a Michigan State Park.  We made reservations for Thursday night through Monday, July 4th.  We were on site #123, which had 50 amps and backed up to woods. It was kind of level with grass and a tree.  We had access to water right across the road.  I liked where the fire pit was located – worked out good for us.  Down side was the beach.  Ugh, black dirt-no sand.  Definitely wouldn’t want to bring the little ones here to swim and play.  But, it is a nice park for fall camping or canoeing (rentals were available).

Thursday night was girls night.  We had Grandpa bring us over and help set up, then it was just one of my granddaughters, Kayleigh who was visiting from out of state and my daughter, Melissa.  We made hobo dinners with s-mores and cherry pies made in a pie iron for dessert.

Friday night we changed it up and had my grandson, Tristan come stay with his cousin and Grandpa.  Pie Iron Pizzas and s-mores were devoured.  We enjoyed waffles for breakfast.  It’s always fun to have family around.

As a side note, the showers were constantly busy so I decided to try our shower out.  I’m so glad I did.  Plenty of room, hot water and just nice having my things right there.

Until next time,

Kathryn
